I received this error while installing onto VMWare. The first thing to check is whether or not your ISO is corrupted and/or partially downloaded. This was the case for me and I re-downloaded the ISO which fixed the issue. This can happen with pretty much any OS installation.
To verify this, compare the size of the ISO you downloaded to the size that in this case, Microsoft’s site says it should be. Additionally, you can compare the MD5 or SHA1 hashes to ensure the file is as it should be.
