Issue

Crystal Reports 10 crashes first then when a report is opened.

Steps to Recreate

Create a report, place a label on the report with text in it, then drag a database field into that label. Save and run the report. Now, delete the database field out of that label and drag a different database label into the label. Save the report. Crystal Reports will now crash when the report is opened.

Workaround

Delete the label entirely instead of trying to reuse it. This will mitigate the crash bug.

Extra Information

I have found no way to recover the report with CR10 aside from using a previous saved version. We use source control for our reports so it was easy to rollback to a previous version. You can however open the report in a newer version of Crystal Reports and likely have it work. I opened this one is Crystal Reports 2008 that is packaged with Visual Studio 2008 (this will allow you to retrieve any changes that you might have made).
